Fashionplate- Preppy&Punk Pearl Jam tee at Macho's
The latest fashionplate pays ode to customized vintage in pure rocker chic fashion at Macho's. The dark cavernous setting and all skulls everywhere were the perfect backdrop. Thursdays sometimes call for major vent sessions, margaritas and comfort food which in my case is usually all things with cheese especially Mexican or Italian. Sat at the bar while waiting for my girl to get off work and indulged in a happy hour marg. We enjoyed one more marg at the bar before getting seated. We started with the braised chicken flautas and the quesdillas both of which were adorably portioned apps. Then we also split the pulled carnitas tacos and the cerveza battered fish tacos with a side of black beans with no rice because no extra carbs needed. We also decided to order the bad hombre cocktail which is a four serving mezcal drink in a skull, how fun right? This is where the service got a bit wonky. Our tacos came out and no beans or drink. We finally get the beans. The tacos and beans were solid, nothing special, the apps stood out more in our minds. We completely finished eating before we received our drink, they said they were having issues as they were served, something they should've mentioned prior. They did bring out complimentary shots to make up for it, although we would've preferred a drink or dessert. Also note they include 25% gratuity, so just something to be aware of as well. Overall a fun cute Mexican spot in Union Square, although wouldn't necessarily do dinner again maybe just happy hour and an app. See all the fashionplate deets below.
